THE LA JACARANDA STORY

We are originally from Lincoln in the UK but moved to Spain in 1999 with our boys. We bought La Jacaranda in 2001. When bought it only comprised of two floors, the living area floor of the villa and the bottom floor with two bedrooms and bathroom. We bought it with the intention of creating an extra bedroom for us and an apartment for my mother who was ill at the time. We knew as soon as we walked in the villa that the place could be spectacular. We even climbed onto the roof to see the views from there and immediately knew that was where the master bedroom should be. So work began and after a year the place was finished, pretty much as it is now. However sadly my mother passed away during the build so although she had been to the property and even sat under the tree in the garden, she never got to live here. We have a memorial bench for her in the spot by the tree that she claimed as hers.

As this happened during the build we turned the apartment into a large office for our business and at one point had 7 staff squeezed in there! We then moved to larger office premises and debated what to do with the apartment. We then decided to turn it into a holiday home and from 2002 – 2009 we rented just the apartment out for families to enjoy.

Meanwhile our children were growing up and our middle son got married and moved into the apartment with his wife and there they had our first grandchild and we all had a happy year watching her grow in such a beautiful place. However Spain was in crisis and neither my son nor his wife could get work so they decided to move to my daughter in laws home town in America. It was heartbreaking to see them go and as our younger son was moving to London we decided that the place was just too big for the two of us and it was time to move. We rented it out long term to a family for three years but after they left it in a state of major disrepair we decided the best future for the place was to share it with people to enjoy as a holiday home.

So 2015, was our first year for people to enjoy La Jacaranda as a whole. We knew it would be a perfect place for families, parties and celebrations as through the years we lived there we had enjoyed it all. We were proved right and had a very successful first year.

Everything is great. Perfect Villa for a lot of people, very attentive, friendly and caring owners, great views of the mountains and the sea, barbecue, two kitchens.. Simon helped with every detail. Debbie was extremely friendly. Very decent people. The Villa is very clean and has everything you need for a comfortable life. We spent the Villa is a two-week workshop, all the participants happy. Huis: We vonden het een prachtige villa, met veel ruimte in en buiten huis. Prachtig terras met BBQ en een mooi zwembad met ligbedden. Vele terrassen om te ontbijten en te eten. De keuken en badkamer is gevuld met alles wat men nodig heeft. Ligging: Rustig gelegen, mooi uitzicht. Dichtbij bushalte (loopafstand). Centrum van Mijas is lopend te bereiken (+/- 20 min lopen). Auto huren is prettig om de omgeving te bekijken. Verhuurder: lieve behulpzame vrouw die je meteen welkom laat voelen. Ze had zelfs gedacht aan het 35-jarig huwelijk, met een kaart en een fles champagne. We hebben fantastische dagen doorgebracht in deze mooie villa. Een echte aanrader voor een (grote) groep.

10/10 for everything! Debbie and Simon were absolutely lovely and helped us from before we booked with every question we had. We felt very welcomed. The villa is beautiful, it's in a fantastic location near Mijas. It was very clean and we felt like there was space for everyone (16 of us). The villa has everything you need! Stunning property, beautifully maintained and finished to a high level. The pool area is lovely and perfect for relaxing in the sun! Mijas village and Fuengirola town are both close and easy to drive or take a taxi to. Great welcome pack and the owners Debbie and Simon, lovely couple and on hand for any queries or problems (if any). Our family had a great holiday.

We had a wonderful stay at the villa! It was exactly what was described, even more beautiful. The house was in perfect condition, any little issue that came up was immediately attended to by Simon. We did rent a car but also went to Malaga city by train, visited the small town of Mijas and went hiking in the surrounding mountains. Shopping in the close by town of Fuengirola was not a problem at all when taking the car, we always had everything we needed. Debbie and Simon were kind enough to not only meet us at the villa and come check on us during our stay, they also gave us a cell phone with spanish service so we could call them or a taxi or anything at anytime which was very thoughtful and useful. We had the nicest evenings and hottest days even at the end of September and spent a lot of time at the pool enjoying the fabulous view. To our delight all the rooms were absolutely beautiful and every one of the almost 20 people we had staying there was content with where they were staying. Also it was so much fun discovering the house, there's always something new, a new path to the pool or through all the rooms you haven't seen yet. There was more than enough places to be even when the sun went around the house (The sun goes up exactly behind the pool site and you should definitely take a morning to look at it.). We had the most wonderful and relaxing time, we all just wish we could've stayed longer!

You have got to stay here it's massive, the views are all around you mountains and sea, great location to nearby towns taxis were not a problem. The villa has every thing and plenty of room. I was with a party of 18 and you were not in each other's way. Would recommend to anybody, can't wait to go back.

We loved the place, we loved the villa! It's location is perfect for peaceful holiday and if somebody wants to visit Mijas pueblo or Fuengirola etc. it is easy with busses or taxis. The villa it self is big, roomy and has nice yard where you can have barbeques or nice dinners outside in terraces. No noise at night time. The pool area was with nice view and sun shined at pool almost all day. The view is absolutely beautiful, you could watch both sunrise and sunset. Morning coffee on terrace looking sunrise, something to remember... Extra mentions to Simon who made sure everything was fine at any time! The owners recommended us a chef who made us dinner twice and it was great, barbeque and paella. Would we come again? You bet.

We chose La Jacaranda for our wedding vacation and we were not disappointed. Beautiful location. Wonderful house. Welcoming hosts. Simon was there to greet us on the day of our arrival with baskets of goodies and loads of useful info. We were able to organize flowers, spa and other wedding necessities with Debbie's and Simon's help. On the day of the wedding, Simon was there to let the caterers in before our arrival from the ceremony. The front terrace lent itself well to decorating for the wedding reception and we have beautiful photos to prove it. Thank you Debbie and Simon for a great experience.

Travelled here last week with family and friends (Party of 15) We were cutting it fine to get from the airport to watch the derby game (Sunderland - Newcastle) Simon greeted us in person and took the girls for the tour as the men sat and watched the game drinking the beer that Simon had kindly bought for us!! The villa was enormous in a great location and lots of character. The views from all areas were amazing, views of mountains at one side and sea views as far as the eye could see. One of our party sustained a broken arm during our stay in Mijas, Simon was on hand to take them to and from the hospital with no questions asked. I would recommend this villa to anyone, the area, villa, surroundings, and especially the owners for making everyday of our stay a one to remember. Thanks for all your help Simon & Debbie, hope to see you again soon.

Simon and Debbie were excellent hosts. Simon picked up a friend and I from the train station and drove us to the air bnb without any problem. Later in the day upon our arrival, Simon offered to drive us to the grocery store since we were still struggling to figure out taxis and directions. The couple was very communicative with us and was available to answer any questions we had. Guests also forgot items at La Jacaranda and Simon offered to ship them back to Rome for us. The property is absolutely beautiful and secluded and was great for our party of 20. Highly recommend for large groups of older individuals or families. Us college kids certainly did not deserve a week in a place so nice and beautiful!

Debbie was a pleasant and efficient contact. Simon was an engaging on-site host. The villa was a perfect size for our extended family of all ages. The hillside views and breezes, the many outdoor spaces, gave us opportunity to relax between family events. The location between the beaches and the lively town if Mijas Pueblo was perfect.

Our party of 19 just returned from a fabulous week at La Jacaranda. The property is spacious, well equipped and comfortable for a large group with plenty of space for us all to spread out. Beautiful gardens, plenty of balconies and a nice pool. The owner, Simon, was very helpful and on hand to help us out at the drop of a hat. He very kindly drove into town on our last day to pick up some medicine for one of the children who had been sick and refused to take any payment. Very comforting to know you have that sort of support when in a foreign country with young children. We ate out a few times in Mijas village and found the bus service to be very reliable and cheap - only 1.55 Euros per person into Mijas or Fuengirola. Would recommend The Secret Garden for dinner. The Mayan Monkey ice-cream/chocolate factory is great for kids - two of our children had birthdays so their parents paid for all the children (9!) to do the chocolate making tour. They loved it and we did too as it gave us free time to have a child-free G&T! Mijas village is beautiful. Such lovely shops and views. The whole area has been pedestrianised and was finished while we were there. Can't recommend the area highly enough. If you are looking for a laid back holiday for a large group of people close to amenities then La Jacaranda is for you. Car not necessary.

Super Aufenthalt! Liegenschaft: ist optimal für grössere Gruppen geeignet ist sogar grösser als auf den Bildern zu erkennen Sauber, auch wenn gewiesse Teile des Hauses schon etwas älter sind. auch für Kinder gut geeignet (Pool, Billiard, Dart, Spielplatz, Wiese) Badetücher etc. sind bereits vorhanden. Lage: Mijas (schönes kleineres weisses spanisches Dorf) ist 5 min entfernt und bietet viele Restaurants, Cafes und Boutiquen. Fuengirola (ca. 10 min entfernt) ist leider extrem Touristisch, was Strandausflüge weniger angenehm macht (obwohl der Strand relativ schön ist). Grosse Supermärkte Einkaufszentren sind in Fuengirola auch zu finden. Vom Haus kann mann auch gut weitere Tagesausflüge wie nach Malaga (ca. 30 min) oder Ronda (ca. 1h 30 min) machen. Gastgeber: Debbie und Simon sind sehr nett, haben an Alles gedacht und waren für uns immer erreichbar.

I cannot recommend this villa enough! My husband and I had our wedding in the villa 2 weeks ago and it was the perfect location for it! We got married on the terrace and had our reception in the garden. Both Simon and Debbie were incredible throughout the whole process, answering all my questions in the lead up to the wedding very promptly (and I had a lot of questions!) they were also kind enough to let us visit the villa twice before the wedding. During our stay, they were both on hand to help and we are immensely grateful. The villa is just beautiful with the most stunning views and its huge so even though there were 22 of us staying, it never felt too busy! I really cannot recommend it enough or thank both Debbie and Simon enough for making planning a wedding much easier! I hope you'll let us come and stay again!!

This place is the perfect holiday destination. We had never been to this area of Spain before but will definitely come back. About the house: The view is spectacular The garden amazing The size with its many bedrooms, bathrooms and terrazzes makes it a perfect destination for a large group. We were a group of 14 in the age of 1 to 72years and all of us really enjoyed this place. Also important; Debbie and Simon are the perfect hosts! Nous avons passé 4 excellentes nuits chez Debbie à 13 personnes. Tout le monde avait un lit, des draps propres et des serviettes de toilettes nous attendaient. La maison est située dans une vallée qui surplombe la mer (au loin) et offre différents endroits pour se reposer à l'extérieur (2 tables de 12, 1 de 5). La piscine est vraiment agréable. Jeux de sociétés et DVD en anglais, billard sont également un plus pour s'amuser.

Debbie and Simons home was everything we could have wished for, spotlessly clean, fun, interesting and a surprise around every corner. We stayed for 6 nights and I still feel like I didn't see all of it! The pool table and table tennis table were big hits. We had a BBQ most nights and sat outside at the huge table. It was perfect for a large family get together or a big group of friends on holiday like we had. It had all the amenities and the welcome basket was a lovely touch. Problems that we weren't even aware of such as the alarm and air conditioning were sorted out without a problem. The pool area was large enough for all of us to lounge together in the sun or shade, loads of outdoor seating areas for some privacy from the large group if needed. A huge thanks to Sue as well who arranged for a forgotten suitcase to get home to us! Thanks again, highly recommended

We loved our stay there, we were 10 adults and 5 kids - plenty of room for everyone. The hosts are absolutely lovely and helpful. During the day time, the sun is shining on the pool side, and when it get's to dinner time, the sun is on the other side where the barbeque, garden and terrace is. You had the sun all day and we always ended up playing hide and seek in their big garden. We would love to come again

We booked this villa to celebrate my 50th birthday. The communication with Debbie the owner was first rate from the outset, ensuring a smooth and trouble free trip across and move into the villa. We were a party of 7 couples. The layout of the villa is perfect as although it enabled us all to celebrate or relax together, either on the numerous terraces or by the pool, the rooms were all offset so as to ensure we all also got some privacy. The villa is excellently presented, and beautifully furnished and has all the amenities, appliances and everything we needed. We had a fantastic week, we were all sorry to leave - and would strongly recommend this Villa.

Vi hadde en langhelg, onsdag-søndag på dette flotte stedet! Vi var 7 par og to "singel" på tur. 16 personer. Vi hadde god plass, huset var større og hadde enda flottere uteområde enn vi hadde sett for oss. Godt utstyrt kjøkken. Vi benyttet oss av noen som gjorde innkjøp for oss, så det stod klart i kjøleskapet da vi kom... Det var veldig kjekt! Kjapt og greit å ta taxi fra flyplass og det fungerte også veldig greit å bestille taxi når vi skulle til Mijas/Fuengirola. Buss var også greit å ta på dagtid. Kan virkelig anbefales til stor gruppe. Her er man samlet samtidig som man har god plass. Det var god service fra Debbie, huseieren! Takk!:-)

What an incredible villa...the pictures in no way do it justice. We stayed with a large party for just under a week and had our wedding on the sun terrace. Debbie was amazing from start to finish (as was Simon, her husband, and all of the people and places she recommended to us-from flowers to restaurants to our amazing caterer{Audrey} she couldn’t have done more for us as we planned, and celebrated, our most special day). We would recommend la jacaranda for medium to large family groups looking to chill out together, friends looking for a get together or people, like us, looking for a stunning location to hold a special event. Our only complaint is that we can’t go back and do it again. Awesome. Thank you Debbie!

Samen met 10 vriendinnen hebben wij een geweldige vakantie gehad in Debbie haar huis. We gingen voor een relaxte vakantie met een zwembad waar we konden relaxen, tafels waar we konden borrelen en dineren, ruimte genoeg was voor privacy en heerlijk weer. Nou dit alles is meer dan uitgekomen. Zodra je in dit huis aankomt ben je verliefd op het uitzicht en de vele hoekjes waar je kan ontbijten, borrelen of dineren. Op een klein half uurtje van het vliegveld. Huur wel een auto zodat je boodschappen kan doen en naar het strand kunt rijden. Wij komen terug!

Words cannot express what a gem La Jacaranda is, but I will try! We recently stayed for 5 days with our families and had our wedding here. We are from the States and booked La Jacaranda site-unseen and prayed that the pictures were a true reflection of the space... It was more than I could have dreamed of! The home was large enough to accommodate our wedding of 35 people and very comfortably slept 15 people. It was very clean and the grounds were impeccably kept. The location is great - very close to the center of Mijas, the beach, restaurants, and grocery stores. This place is perfect for large group gatherings. We grilled out one day, had a pool party another day, and of course our wedding. Our hosts Debbie and Simon were remarkable - They have a binder in the home that could answer any possible question and were so easily accessible by phone and email. Communication with them was easy and very prompt and they are such kind people. I know others are also having weddings here so if you're contemplating it don't hesitate! We had our ceremony on the main terrace, dinner in the garden, cocktail hour on the front terrace, and dancing back on the main terrace. Our guests could not believe their eyes and we could not be happier with the decision to book this villa. Thank you Debbie and Simon!!!!

Me and my friends had the most wonderful time staying at La Jacaranda. The house is beautiful and the views are exceptional. Mijas is such a cute and pretty areas of Spain. So many great places to eat and lots of little gift shops. You can spend hours strolling up and down the white washed lanes and coming across more bars and cute little shops. Debbie is the perfect host. Her communication leading up to the holiday was brilliant and during our stay she was so helpful with information about surrounding areas and transport etc. I think the cost of staying at la Jacaranda is extremely reasonable and we would definitely go again!

We stayed at la jacaranda for a week and it was home from home. It has absolutely everything you need for an relaxed villa holiday. The outside area at the front of the property is great of an evening to sit, chill, play table tennis, board games and bbq. The kitchen had a great supply of equipment , sharp knives, cooking utensils, Loads of crockery and cutlery, we had a weening baby with us and there was even a hand blender so his mum was able to make fresh food for him. Debbie was a great host, a couple of our party members asked for an early check in only a few days before we arrived and she did everything she could to accommodate this as well as meeting us on leaving the villa. We had an amazing time at la jacaranda and if we had the opportunity to all go on holiday together again we would definitely consider going back x

Incredible Villa. We stayed here for our first family holiday and the space and environment was stunning. The communication with the owners was fantastic and I have already recommended to my friends. You will not be disappointed. It is worth noting that the road in is typical rustic Spanish but you get used to it very quickly. Overall my whole family said it was one of the best holidays they ever had.

19 of us had a fantastic time at this villa. The rooms are lovely and the views of the mountains and coast are spectacular. Seeing the sunrise and sunset from one of the many terraces is a treat! Debbie the owner, is fabulous and she made the whole process stress free. We highly recommend this villa for a large group of friends and family. We would love to go back. The location is perfect, quiet but within very easy access to explore the Costa del Sol.

The outdoor facilities especially was better than expected. The garden is big, cozy and exciting for the kids. The whole area was relaxing for all the families travelling together. Nice view, lots of seating areas, sun/shade areas. Perfect! The pool area with all the toys (leftovers from others) was extra fun for young and old! Felt welcome from the beginning of my booking. When we came to the house and got the tour, the house and the garden was even better than we expected. The garden/backyard was amazing for us with small kids. Good space so every family could go around the area and get privacy if they needed.

We had the best experience renting Villa Jacaranda in September-October 2021. Both Debbie and Simon are the most lovely people. The communication beforehand was very good, and they were extremely helpful and understanding when we previously had to postpone the booking due to the covid travel restrictions. The villa is huge (bigger than in pictures) and has several lovely outdoor areas. We were about 19 adults staying in the villa and it was not crowded at all. The inside area is also huge and the rooms are very nice. The villa was very clean when we arrived and Simon (who greeted us) was extremely welcoming when we all arrived. Simon and Debbie were also available at any time during our stay if we had any questions or issues. We were very lucky and was able to have our wedding at the villa. We had the ceremony at the big terrace and the dinner in the back yard. Everything turned out amazing and I couldn't dream of a better place to have the wedding. Debbie and Simon were extremely helpful and met with many of our suppliers at the villa during the planning of the wedding. We feel very thankful for the opportunity to celebrate our wedding an entire week together with our family in Villa Jacaranda on holiday in Spain. Our family had the best time together at the villa. We had a lot of fun using the pool, the ping-pong table and the pool table amongst other activities at the villa. The view from the terraces is amazing, and on clear days you could see all the way to Africa. The villa is situated very close the Mijas Pueblo, and there are several grocery stores, good restaurants and shopping centers just a short drive from the villa. It is also not far from the airport, Malaga and Marbella. I would very much recommend Villa Jacaranda to anyone and would love to stay there again one day in the future!

The villa was great for a family holiday! The villa is very well equipped and was a welcoming homely environment.. and with lots of space for everyone. The nearby Mijas pueblo is a beautiful village with lots of restaurants and beautiful scenery.. fuengirola also close by, some of us had a car but these places were also easily accessible via taxi .. Owners were great at communicating and also accommodating to the requirements of the party. They also provided a nice touch of a welcome pack, a card and gift for my parents birthdays and also additional extras within the villa for us too use as wee wished.. Great experience.
